Circularity in practice!
Circular economy in practice! The home that started our adventure two years ago as demonstration project was now sold to a private client and moved to the Veluwe, the biggest forest in The Netherlands.
We have built our first project in The Netherlands during the summer of 2020. This demonstration project was realised to show the feasibility of affordable sustainable housing. In addition, we have successfully developed and tested the technical details of our building concept in this project. The family home of around 65 sqm has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a living/kitchen. The veranda outside provides shelter from sun and rain and creates a nice area to relax, eat, cook, or wash.
In the past few weeks, we worked hard to take the structure apart and to rebuild it on its new location. Everything was reused and in perfect condition, even the screws and foundation blocks. No waste. No demolition. Circular economy in practice! It shows the real value of circular design practices. Relocation and incremental building are so valuable for sustainable affordable housing.
Many thanks to the building team and the client for making this happen! For now, this will be our last project in The Netherlands, as we are fully focusing on bringing our sustainable homes to market in (among others) Uganda, Mozambique, Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania. Up to the next one!
